Job Role

Head of Coffee

Clifton Coffee Roasters

Founded in 2001, Clifton Coffee Roasters began its life servicing espresso machinery in the independent businesses of Bristol. As the reputation for service grew, so too did the demand for supply of coffee & equipment, and Clifton begun to supply roasted coffee to its customers. As the company grew, a few key Bristol-based multi-site customers joined – all of which are still proudly supported today. The Head Office expanded to include a large training facility – the first of its kind at the time, and many staff came on board to help continue developing the business further afield.
Fast forward to 2013 and, confident in the growth & interest they were witnessing across the industry in improved coffee quality, Clifton decided to invest in their own in-house production roastery to concentrate solely on sourcing, roasting and supplying the worlds finest specialty coffees. They embarked upon a journey as much for their own interest as for their customers, to deliver a program of coffee quality & education that would help drive the industry forward further still.
Today they find themselves at the forefront of the UK specialty coffee scene supplying many of the leading retailers from independent specialty coffee shops to michelin starred restaurants and 5-star hotel right across the UK. Just as their offer of coffees has developed, so too has their range of espresso and filter brewing equipment. With a team of fully qualified engineers on the road, they are proud suppliers of some of the world’s leading manufacturers including La Marzocco, La Spaziale, Victoria Arduino, Modbar, Mahlkönig, Compak, Fetco & Hario.
Josh is responsible for curating Clifton’s entire coffee programme, overseeing; sourcing, roasting, marketing, wholesale and business development.

Clifton boasts; a SCA Premier Training Campus, 2 Qualified Q Graders, a World Brewers Cup Judge and the current UK Cup Tasters Champion. They have also been nominated as one of the Top 20 Food & Drink Businesses to watch in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, 2019.
